Unauthenticated email flood via unchecked AJAX handler
Published Mar 13, 2026 · Updated Mar 13, 2026
Missing authorization in gVectors Team wpDiscuz before 7.6.47 allows remote attackers to flood subscribers with notification emails. The checkNotificationType() AJAX handler accepts arbitrary postId and comment_id values without nonce validation, authentication, or rate limiting, then initiates subscriber notifications. Anonymous network access to wpdiscuz-ajax.php is sufficient to generate repeated outbound email and disrupt the notification service.
