Out-of-bounds read via malformed XML profile parsing
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
Heap-buffer overflow in iccDEV before 2.3.1.2 allows attackers to read past heap bounds when a crafted XML profile is processed. CIccProfileXml::ParseBasic() advances a separator pointer through a size string but tests the pointer for null instead of the character it addresses, so the scan continues beyond the heap allocation. The public iccFromXml reproduction requires processing the crafted profile and demonstrates a one-byte AddressSanitizer over-read; broader effects remain unproven.
