Local arbitrary file creation via crafted provider names
Published Mar 16, 2026 · Updated Mar 16, 2026
Path traversal in dtprobed in Oracle Linux 8 through 10 allows local users to create arbitrary files via crafted USDT provider names. The daemon accepts an untrusted provider name from a probe description and uses it to create a file without restricting the resulting path to its intended directory. Low-privileged local access is required; the published assessment reports availability impact only, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.
