CVE-2026-21715

Local filesystem path disclosure via unchecked realpath

Published Mar 30, 2026 · Updated Mar 30, 2026

Information disclosure in Node.js 20.x, 22.x, 24.x, and 25.x allows local users to enumerate restricted filesystem paths. fs.realpathSync.native() omits the Permission Model read check and resolves symlink targets or reports path existence outside the allowlist. The bypass requires a process started with --permission and a deliberately restricted --allow-fs-read policy; it exposes path metadata but not file contents.
