Authenticated command execution via unsanitized FOTA URL
Published Feb 8, 2026 · Updated Feb 8, 2026
Command injection in D-Link DWR-M921 1.1.50 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary root commands through the FOTA endpoint. The Boa handler accepts shell metacharacters in fota_url and passes the value into a system command after checking only for a URL scheme. Administrative web-interface credentials and network access are required; successful commands run as root and can read or alter router data or interrupt service.
