Authenticated command execution via newline filter bypass
Published Feb 8, 2026 · Updated Feb 8, 2026
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-823X firmware 250416 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary root commands. The set_dmz handler passes dmz_host or dmz_enable into a shell-backed UCI command after a blacklist omits newline characters, letting input terminate the configuration command and start another command. Administrative web-interface credentials are required, and successful exploitation runs commands as root while restarting the firewall service.
