Memory exhaustion via unchecked ICC tag size
Published Jan 6, 2026 · Updated Jan 6, 2026
Improper input validation in iccDEV before 2.3.1.2 allows remote attackers to exhaust memory by supplying a crafted ICC profile. CIccProfile::LoadTag accepts a declared tag size without checking it against the bytes remaining in the file, so CIccTagText::Read processes invalid tag data and triggers undefined behavior or an out-of-memory condition. Processing an attacker-supplied profile requires user interaction, and the demonstrated consequence is interruption of the consuming tool or service.
