CVE-2026-21436Public exploit

Out-of-directory file writes via unnormalized archive paths

Published Jan 1, 2026 · Updated Jan 1, 2026

Path traversal in Solus Project eopkg before 4.4.0 allows attackers to write package files outside a specified destination directory. During archive extraction, pisi/archive.py used tar member paths without first removing absolute or parent-directory components, so crafted names escaped --destdir. Exploitation requires a malicious or compromised package source and an administrator to install the package; official Solus repositories are unaffected.
