Root command execution via newline injection
Published Feb 8, 2026 · Updated Feb 8, 2026
OS command injection in D-Link DIR-823X 250416 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through the QoS interface. The sub_420688 handler for /goform/set_qos accepts newlines in QoS parameters, then embeds those values in shell-backed UCI commands. Administrative credentials are required; successful injection runs with root privileges and grants full control of the router.
