Subscriber-level shortcode execution via unchecked preview action
Published Feb 18, 2026 · Updated Feb 18, 2026
Missing authorization in SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle 1.70.4 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary shortcodes. The siteorigin_widget_preview_widget_action function validates only the widgets_action nonce and omits a capability check before invoking the editor widget. Subscriber access suffices when a Post Carousel page exposes the nonce; executed shortcodes can read or modify site data according to installed handlers.
