Installation restriction bypass via unverified authenticity data
Published Apr 29, 2026 · Updated Apr 29, 2026
Improper authenticity verification in Samsung Mobile Devices lets local attackers alter application installation restrictions. Samsung has not disclosed which authenticity data PackageManagerService fails to verify or how that data reaches the restriction logic. The flaw affects Android 14, 15, and 16 before SMR Mar-2026 Release 1; local access is required, and the impact is limited to changing an installation restriction.
