CVE-2026-2081Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via newline injection

Published Feb 7, 2026 · Updated Feb 7, 2026

OS command injection in D-Link DIR-823X 250416 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through its web interface. The set_password handler omits newline characters from its http_passwd blacklist, then concatenates the value into a UCI shell command. Exploitation requires the current administrator password, and committed configuration commands execute with root privileges.
