CVE-2026-20492

Local system hang via Audio HAL race

Published Aug 3, 2026 · Updated Aug 3, 2026

A TOCTOU race in MediaTek Audio HAL on six MT-series chipsets allows local users to make the host system unresponsive. MediaTek identifies a race condition in the Audio HAL but has not disclosed the competing operations, shared resource, or triggering input. User-level execution is required; no user interaction is needed, and the documented consequence is a local system hang rather than data access or code execution.
