Code execution via unchecked ICNS data length
Published Feb 20, 2026 · Updated Feb 20, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in GIMP 3.0.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by inducing ICNS file parsing. The ICNS file loader copies attacker-controlled data into a heap buffer without first validating that the encoded length fits the destination. Exploitation requires the target to visit a malicious page or open a crafted file, and successful code runs in the current process context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
