CVE-2026-20469

Local privilege escalation via trusted_mem arbitrary write

Published Aug 3, 2026 · Updated Aug 3, 2026

Write-what-where in trusted_mem on affected MediaTek chipsets allows local users with System privilege to escalate privileges. The trusted_mem component improperly validates input, creating a write-what-where condition that writes an attacker-controlled value to an attacker-controlled location. Exploitation requires existing System privilege and user interaction; MT8186, MT8188, MT8195, MT8365, MT8370, MT8371, MT8390, MT8391, and MT8395 are affected.
