Local privilege escalation via unchecked MAE offset
Published Mar 2, 2026 · Updated Mar 2, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in MediaTek MAE on affected chipsets allows local users with System privilege to escalate privileges without interaction. The MAE subcomponent omits bounds validation for an input-specified index, position, or offset before an out-of-range memory write. Exploitation requires prior System privilege and grants access at a higher local privilege level without user interaction.
