Stored XSS in Splunk Enterprise and Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to run JavaScript in a victim's browser via classic dashboards. A low-privileged account can store a malicious script in a classic dashboard HTML panel, which Splunk Web later executes as unauthorized browser code. The attack requires Splunk Web, the nondefault dashboard_html_allow_embeddable_content setting, and phishing that induces another user to initiate the request; it cannot be triggered at will.
