Data exfiltration via incomplete external-content URL validation

Improper input validation in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to exfiltrate sensitive data. The classic dashboard external-content dialog incompletely validates URLs and permits requests to untrusted domains that carry dashboard-accessible data. Exploitation requires a low-privileged account without the admin or power role and interaction by another user with the crafted dashboard; the documented consequence is data disclosure to an attacker-controlled server.
