CVE-2026-20204Network attack vector

Authenticated code execution via apptemp file upload

Published Apr 15, 2026 · Updated Apr 15, 2026

Remote code execution in Splunk Web in Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud Platform allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The upload path accepts a malicious file into $SPLUNK_HOME/var/run/splunk/apptemp, where insufficient temporary-file handling and isolation allow the file to reach execution. A low-privileged account without the admin or power role is sufficient, Splunk Web must be enabled, and user interaction is required.
