CVE-2026-19968Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interrupt via out-of-bounds model parsing

Published Aug 17, 2026 · Updated Aug 17, 2026

Out-of-bounds read in Assimp 17c12da allows remote attackers to interrupt services via a crafted model file. Public records conflict on the locus: issue #6630 reports MDLImporter::ReadFaces_3DGS_MDL7 reading past the MDL input buffer, while the cited patch ee77bb0 instead adds mFileBufferEnd checks to LWOImporter::ReadVSizedIntLWO2 in code/AssetLib/LWO/LWOLoader.h. An application must import attacker-supplied model data to reach the bug; the available evidence demonstrates crash-prone out-of-bounds reads, but it does not publicly tie the cited patch to the issue or show a write or code-execution path.
