Role escalation via unrestricted settings update
Published Mar 11, 2026 · Updated Mar 11, 2026
Improper privilege management in ExactMetrics 7.1.0 through 9.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to grant plugin access to subscribers. The update_settings() function accepts arbitrary setting names, allowing save_settings to be rewritten without an allowlist. Exploitation requires exactmetrics_save_settings capability; changing the role list delegates ExactMetrics administrative functionality to every subscriber.
