Local process crash via malformed UVC descriptor
Published Feb 6, 2026 · Updated Feb 6, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in libuvc 0.0.1 through 0.0.7 allows local users to crash a consuming process via a malformed UVC descriptor. The public reproducer reaches uvc_scan_streaming in src/device.c, where a structure-member read through address 0x10 triggers an abort. Low-privileged local access is required; the demonstrated consequence is a process crash, with no confidentiality or integrity impact.
