Command execution via untrusted Git configuration
Published Aug 14, 2026 · Updated Aug 14, 2026
Command execution in Eclipse Theia 1.69.0 and earlier allows attackers to run code when a user opens a crafted Git repository. The Git integrations run commands before workspace trust, causing Git to honor repository-local core.fsmonitor and execute its configured command. A user must clone and open the repository; execution then occurs with that user's privileges without a confirmation prompt.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
