Subscriber-level short-link creation via unchecked AJAX action
Published Aug 25, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026
Authorization bypass in WPDeveloper BetterLinks 3.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to create arbitrary short URLs. The create_fbs_link AJAX action accepts a globally exposed betterlinks_admin_nonce but performs no capability check before storing an attacker-chosen slug and redirect destination. Subscriber-level access and active Fluent Boards integration are required, limiting the result to unauthorized redirects usable for phishing or SEO abuse.
