Server file probing via relative path traversal

Published Sep 9, 2026 · Updated Sep 9, 2026

Path traversal in Red Hat build of Keycloak allows remote authenticated users to probe server files through crafted keystore parameters. JavaKeystoreKeyProviderFactory normalizes relative input before resolving it against the realm directory, then applies Path.startsWith to the unnormalized resolved path and opens it. A realm administrator with manage-realm access can distinguish file existence, readability, and type from the resulting errors.
