Unauthenticated database-query alteration via raw department ID
Published Aug 13, 2026 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
SQL injection in SourceCodester Simple Student Information System 1.0 allows remote attackers to alter database queries through the id parameter. The app/admin/departments/view_department.php handler places the id value directly inside a quoted SELECT statement without validation, escaping, or parameter binding. Network access to the endpoint is sufficient and no authentication is required; demonstrated boolean-, time-, and UNION-based injection permits query alteration and database fingerprinting.
