Remote code execution via unescaped WebSocket proxy hostname
Published Mar 26, 2026 · Updated Mar 26, 2026
Command injection in Red Hat Satellite 6 allows remote attackers to execute commands through a malicious compute resource server. Foreman's lib/ws_proxy.rb embeds an untrusted provider-supplied hostname in a shell command passed to websockify without neutralizing shell metacharacters. Exploitation requires an administrator to configure the malicious server and open its VM console, after which commands run as the foreman user and expose stored infrastructure credentials.
