CVE-2026-19582

Code execution via rsrc_print_name stack overflow

Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 25, 2026

Stack-based buffer overflow in GNU binutils 2.46.1 and earlier allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted PE file. The flaw is in rsrc_print_name, and Red Hat's Bugzilla states rsrc_parse_entries is also involved; crafted PE resource-name data is written past a stack buffer during parsing. Reachability requires local use of binutils or social engineering a victim to inspect an untrusted PE file, which limits exposure to file-parsing workflows.
