Denial of service via unbounded password hashing
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in RDK Management LLC RDK-B WebUI allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service via oversized passwords. The login handler in /usr/www2/check.jst hashes the entire supplied password with SHA-256 before rejecting the attempt and imposes no length limit on that untrusted input. Any network-reachable WebUI login endpoint is exposed to remote unauthenticated attackers, and repeated large requests can make the interface and related services slow or unresponsive.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
