Unauthenticated LPAR outage via crafted RPC packet
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Uncontrolled resource consumption in IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 and PowerVM VIOS 4.1 allows remote attackers to make an LPAR unavailable. A reachable RPC service mishandles a crafted UDP packet in a way that exhausts an undisclosed resource; IBM has not identified the service or operation. No authentication or user interaction is required, and recovery from complete system unavailability requires an LPAR restart.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
