Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode attributes
Published Feb 18, 2026 · Updated Feb 18, 2026
Stored XSS in Xylus Themes WP Event Aggregator 1.8.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts via wp_events attributes. The wp_events_archive() method in class-wp-event-aggregator-cpt.php embeds shortcode attributes in a data-shortcode HTML attribute without sanitizing or escaping them. Contributor-level access is sufficient to save a crafted shortcode, and the payload runs in a visitor's browser when the affected page is viewed.
