CVE-2026-19331

Arbitrary file read and write via path traversal

Published Aug 9, 2026 · Updated Aug 9, 2026

Path traversal in Bazyl Horsey Obsidian MCP Server 1.0.0 allows local users to read or write files outside an Obsidian vault. CanvasService.readCanvas and writeCanvas pass caller-controlled canvas paths to path.join with the vault path without verifying that the resolved path remains beneath the vault root. Access requires the ability to invoke the server's canvas tools, and reachable files are bounded by the server process's filesystem permissions.
