Local file disclosure and modification via path traversal
Published Aug 9, 2026 · Updated Aug 9, 2026
Path traversal in IncomeStreamSurfer Roo Code Memory Bank MCP Server 0.1.0 allows local users to read or modify files outside its data directory. The readMemoryBankFile and appendMemoryBankEntry functions pass caller-controlled file_name values to path.join, then read, write, or append the resulting path without checking containment under memory-bank. A local user or MCP client able to invoke either stdio tool can access files permitted to the server process, including disclosure or modification outside the intended store.
