Privilege escalation via unanchored M2M claim matching
Published Aug 10, 2026 · Updated Aug 10, 2026
Privilege escalation in Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security for Kubernetes 4 allows remote authenticated users to obtain unintended roles. Central's Auth M2M role mapping evaluates valueExpression patterns as unanchored regular expressions, so a claim value containing rather than exactly matching a configured pattern succeeds. A valid OIDC token and an administrator-created permissive mapping are required; the resulting role grants access to resources and operations assigned to that role.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
