Client crash via unchecked MMS itemId offsets
Published Aug 8, 2026 · Updated Aug 8, 2026
Heap out-of-bounds read in MZ Automation libIEC61850 1.6.0 through 1.6.1 allows remote attackers to crash MMS client processes. MmsMapping_varAccessSpecToObjectReference assumes each response itemId has an LN$FC$... layout and reads fixed offsets past a lone dollar sign. The client must browse a dataset after connecting to a malicious MMS server, or a man-in-the-middle attacker must modify the response; the resulting process abort interrupts that client.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
