Host code execution via boot-image stack overflow
Published Aug 19, 2026 · Updated Aug 21, 2026
Stack-based overflow in IBM Power Systems Firmware allows attackers with service-processor access to execute host code via a crafted update image. The host-firmware boot image-validation path accepts the image and overflows a stack buffer during validation. High-privilege service access is required; IBM has not further specified the resulting confidentiality, integrity, or availability effects.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=FW1060.00 <=FW1060.80
- Affected versionversion=FW1110.00 <=FW1110.30
