Authenticated code execution via unrestricted PHP upload
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Unrestricted upload in SourceCodester Photo Share Website 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP code via crafted image data. The save_upload action in social/ajax.php decodes img[] data, accepts a caller-chosen .php name from imgName[], and stores the file in a web-accessible directory without validating its extension or content. A valid account and network access to the upload endpoint are sufficient; requesting the stored script executes it with the web server's privileges.
