Subscriber crash via unchecked ASDU field lengths
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Out-of-bounds read in MZ Automation libIEC61850 1.6.0 through 1.6.1 allows remote attackers to crash SV subscriber processes. parseASDU accepts undersized fixed-width ASDU elements such as confRev, while SVSubscriber_ASDU_getConfRev later reads four bytes without retaining or checking the encoded length. Exploitation requires access to the subscriber's Layer-2 Sampled Values network and a callback that reads the malformed field; the demonstrated consequence is process termination.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
