Local privilege boundary bypass via unprotected named pipe
Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026
Improper access control in DeepCool DisplayService 1.2.12 allows local users to reach a privileged service command channel. DeepCoolDisplayService.exe exposes the DeepCool_display_server named pipe without enforcing an administrator-only caller check before returning a per-session data channel. A standard Windows user can complete the JSON handshake with the LocalSystem service; privileged display-state commands are exposed, but the published proof stops before executing them.
