Stored XSS via unescaped poster shortcode attribute
Published Feb 14, 2026 · Updated Feb 14, 2026
Stored XSS in Bestony Simple Plyr 0.0.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via a crafted poster value. The plyr shortcode renderer places the user-controlled poster attribute into generated video markup without adequate sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level access is required; injected scripts execute whenever a visitor opens the affected page, enabling actions in that visitor's browser context.
