Stored script execution via unescaped shortcode attribute
Published Feb 14, 2026 · Updated Feb 14, 2026
Stored XSS in Gianluigi Filippelli Citations tools 0.3.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via ctdoi. The ctdoi shortcode places the user-supplied code attribute into a DOI link without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping. Contributor-level publishing access is required; opening the injected page executes attacker-controlled JavaScript in a visitor's browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
