CVE-2026-19082Network attack vector

Heap-memory disclosure via zero-length EXIF underflow

Published Aug 7, 2026 · Updated Aug 7, 2026

Out-of-bounds reads in Tony Cook Imager 0.45_02 through 1.033 allow remote attackers to expose adjacent heap bytes via crafted images. In copy_string_tags, a zero-count ASCII EXIF entry makes entry->size - 1 become -1, causing i_tags_add to call strlen and copy bytes beyond the declared entry. The path requires an application to decode an attacker-supplied JPEG or WEBP image and access the resulting exif_* tag; the demonstrated consequence is unintended tag data, not code execution.
