Unauthenticated settings modification via exposed REST endpoint
Published Apr 7, 2026 · Updated Apr 7, 2026
Missing authorization in Link Whisper Free before 0.9.1 allows remote attackers to modify plugin settings and user metadata via REST requests. The link-whisper/ai-auth endpoint accepts unauthenticated POST parameters and writes AI authorization and email values into wp_options and wp_usermeta. No account or user interaction is required; the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized modification of AI-access configuration and a selected user's plugin metadata.
