Unauthenticated Directory Manager escalation via stale SASL identity

Improper authentication in 389 Directory Server allows remote attackers to gain Directory Manager authority over LDAPS without credentials. ids_sasl_canon_user() stores a failed PLAIN bind DN with prop_set(), and ids_sasl_check_bind() later trusts the first prop_getnames() value without mechanism or freshness checks. A failed PLAIN bind followed by a successful anonymous bind on the same connection is sufficient, with no valid account, user interaction, or non-default configuration required.
