CVE-2026-18916Network attack vectorHinoki check available

TCP service denial via throttled receive windows

Published Aug 26, 2026 · Updated Aug 26, 2026

Integer underflow in NLnet Labs NSD 3.2.11 through 4.15.0 allows remote attackers to crash serve children via TCP queries. NLnet Labs has not published the source-code locus or the specific arithmetic operation that underflows when a client reduces its TCP receive window to one byte. No authentication is required; repeated child crashes can keep every serve child in a restart loop and deny all TCP DNS service while leaving UDP service unaffected.
