Root command execution via unrestricted RPC forwarding
Published Aug 5, 2026 · Updated Aug 5, 2026
OS command execution in H3C Magic NX15 Wireless Router V100R017 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root via /api/esps. The magic_link.lua bridge maps attacker-controlled object, method, and argument fields directly to ubus without an allowlist, exposing rpcd's file.exec handler, which passes a supplied executable and arguments to execv(). An administrator web session is required; successful calls run with UID 0 and can fully control the router.
