Contributor-level stored XSS via unescaped shortcode ID
Published Mar 21, 2026 · Updated Mar 21, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in the Outgrow plugin for WordPress 2.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts. The outgrow shortcode handler accepts its id attribute without sufficient input sanitization and emits the value without output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the stored script executes in the browser of any user who visits the injected page.
