Adjacent-network code execution via heap overwrite
Published Aug 20, 2026 · Updated Aug 20, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in IBM AIX 7.2 and 7.3 and PowerVM VIOS 4.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The bos.mp64 fileset writes beyond an allocated heap buffer while processing network input whose structure IBM has not disclosed. Exploitation requires adjacent-network access but no authentication or user interaction, and successful memory corruption grants system-level code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
