Authenticated command execution via ungated quick commands
Published Aug 4, 2026 · Updated Aug 4, 2026
Incorrect authorization in Nous Research Hermes Agent 2026.6.0 through 2026.6.5 allows remote authenticated users to execute quick commands. In gateway/run.py, dispatch gates only registered slash commands with _check_slash_access, then runs matching unregistered type: exec quick commands through a shell without repeating the authorization check. Exploitation requires an allowed messaging-platform user, an enabled allow_admin_from policy, and a configured executable quick command; it grants the command's output and effects.
