Authenticated server-wide logging modification via profile authorization bypass
Published Aug 11, 2026 · Updated Aug 11, 2026
Improper authorization in MongoDB Server allows remote authenticated users to alter server-wide diagnostic logging through the profile command. The command accepts database-scoped privileges but applies slowms, sampleRate, or filter changes to the entire server in affected 7.0, 8.0, and 8.3 releases. A limited database user can suppress useful records or generate excessive log volume, obscuring activity and degrading operational monitoring.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=7.0 <7.0.40
- Affected versionversion=8.0 <8.0.29
- Affected versionversion=8.3.0 <8.3.8
